The police yesterday arraigned a security guard, Johnson Uduji, 30, in a Grade 1 Area Court in Kado, Abuja for attempting to commit indecent acts.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Simeon Emmanuel, told the court that the accused, a security guard at the Sky Memorial Plaza in Wuse 2, was caught while attempting to make the penis of a man to disappear. He told the court that the complainant, one Abdullahi Musa of Zongo Village, Abuja, lodged a report against the accused at the Life Camp Police Station on April 7.
The prosecutor said that two other businessmen, Jackson Michael and NdukwuChimeah, both of Sky MemorialPlaza, also lodged reports about the accused at the police station. He said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 200 of the Penal Code, which prescribes a maximum of two years in prison.
After the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty. In his defence, Uduji claimed that he was just passing by and in a bid to confirm an address he saw Musa in a corner and only touched him on the arm to get his attention.
“As soon as I touched him. He started shouting that his penis had disappeared.“Before I knew what was happening, people came and dragged me and started beating me. Telling me to return the man’s penis,’’ the accused said.
The Presiding Judge, Malam Abubaka rSadiq, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N5, 000 and a reliable surety who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction. Sadiq adjourned the case until May 7, for further hearing. (NAN)
