The Gombe state Police command said the Command has arrested two suspected criminals with a substance suspected to be cannabis worth 300kg.
Addressing newsmen in Gombe yesterday, the Police commissioner, Mr.
Kudu Nma said the suspects were apprehended at Bara village, along Bauchi-Gombe road by its men, who were on patrol against Sallah celebration.
The names of the suspects, who was given to newsmen as Mike Ojo and John Abe, were said to have travelled from Kogi state to Gombe, noting that the suspects used a truck, with registration number AKD 21 SG, before they ran out of luck and were arrested by the Police at Bara village few kilometers away to Gombe.
According to him, the police were alert at the tactical operations point when the suspected drove to the area before they were arrested, adding the police had already swung into action in order to investigate the matter.
The CP, who explained to newsmen that the substance seized by the criminals would cost N10million if it is disposed to the market, warned that the Police would continue to checkmate crimes within the society.
He assure Gombe residents that the Police will do their best to ensure a hitch free Sallah celebration in the state and warned that any one found disrupting the peace of citizens would face the wrath of the law even as he said the command would not relent to deal with miscreants during the festival period.
