In its efforts to curb the high rate of rape yesterday, the Kebbi State police command has arrested one Kabiru Hassan, 28, of Kamba town in Dandi Local Government Area of the State, who allegedly defiled 8 years old girl in an uncompleted building.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen yesterday at the Police Headquarters, the Commissioner of Police, Mr Agunbiade Oluyemi Lasore said many rapes cases have been reported and that all will be charged to court.
Lasore said ‘’on the 30th May, 2020, the suspect Kabiru Hassan lured 8 years old girl to an uncompleted building and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her. He confessed to the alleged crime.
He also disclosed that another man Musa Abubakar of Argungu town in Argungu Local Government Area of the state lured 10 years old girl into his room located at Tudun Wada area of the town and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her. The suspect agreed to the crime and would be arraigned in court .
The commissioner of police said ‘’ in the light of the above, I wont to reiterate, that the Kebbi state police command under my watch and in collaboration with other security agencies and their accomplices ,whose activities are inimical to the security, safety and wellbeing of the good people of the state.
‘’I want to state without equivocation that, I am highly miffed with the incessant cases of rape and other sexual and gender based violence, which are barbaric in nature and thereby warns the perpetrators of such crimes to fear Allah and desist forthwith or face the full wrath of the law, if arrested ‘’, he said.
