Police authorities in Nasarawa have issued two emergency telephone numbers to help fight crime and criminality in the state.
Making these numbers public yesterday, state Commissioner of Police, Idris Ibrahim, said the lines are situated in the command’s control room and would be open for 24 hours.
The CP stated this in an address he delivered at a meeting with representatives of political parties in the state ahead of the scheduled local government election.
He urged citizens of the state to take advantage of the hot lines to report any act of crime or criminality to enable the police to carry out their task of crime prevention.
“We don’t need an informant to give us his name. We just require the incidence, location and time so that our men can take appropriate action”, he said.
On the forthcoming local government election, the CP promised that the police will be fair to all parties, stressing that the command will take a practical step to prevent cases of ballot box snatching as well as thuggery.
He warned politicians in the state to avoid actions capable of generating tension even as he said that the police would not hesitate to arrest anybody found wanting.
The emergency lines issued by the police are: 08123821571 and 07059493022.
