The Police Anti-crime detectives attached to Ashaka Police Division in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State in the early hours of Tuesday raided suspected criminal hideouts across the community, including brothels, and arrested sixteen suspects with arms.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Ashaka Police Division, Mr. Ifeanyi Nmor who confirmed the arrest of the suspects to our reporter said: “Ashaka community has been under siege of criminal activities, after the security meeting with my officers, it was resolved we embark on raid, we raided suspicious flash points, Ibrede, Beneku Iselegu, and Ossissa including commercial sex centres where we arrested sixteen suspects, and are being interrogated for further investigation”.
He said that the raid was in line with the police determination, and commitment to a safe society, especially with the fast approach of “Ember months”, adding that the police during the raid, also intercepted, and arrested some motorcycle thieves within the division.
According to him, “we have declared total war on criminals of all forms, criminally minded persons had better vacated the area, or get entangle by the long arm of the law” and commended the vigilantes, and other security operatives in the area for their supportive roles.
While calling on traditional rulers, youths’ leaders and members of the public to always give useful information to the police DPO Nmor disclosed that the suspects with arrested battle axes, and unauthorized guns, adding that they will be charged to court on completion of investigation.
“I call for those in the hospitality business to monitor their staff and customers closely to avoid harbouring criminals, our men are on ground to fish criminals” the DPO added.
