Some member of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SAS), a department in the Nigerian Police Force, yesterday shot two automobile mechanics, Mr. Jamiu and Mr. Dele, in Zuba, Gwagwalada area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Eyewitness accounts told Peoples Daily that the incident occurred when there was a minor argument between the police and the two mechanics at their workshop.
The sources further disclosed that the policemen drove into the mechanics workshop when there was a heavy traffic-jam in Zuba, which led to a misunderstanding between them.
A source, who did not want his name to mentioned in print, said that the policemen shot indiscriminately during the incident, which scared the people of the area.
It was gathered that the policemen, who were coming back from the journey are the staff serving with Zuba Police Division.
When contacted, the Zuba Police Divisional Officer (DPO), declined comment, but it was learnt that the policemen who shot the mechanics are being detained in police custody in Zuba.
Meanwhile, the victims have been taken to the Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.
