The Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman yesterday tasks indigenes of Taraba State on actualizing the 3,050MW Mambilla hydropower project in Taraba State, stressing that the project will have direct impact on the people and growth of the State.
The Minister speaking while receiving Taraba State Governor Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku who was on a courtesy visit to his office in Abuja.
He appealed for the support of the Taraba State Government for the actualization of the project in the genuine interest of the people.
Mamman said the Federal Government is ready to corporate with the state government in ensuring speedy completion of the project.
According to him, “The project will change not only the power sector nationwide but will have direct impact on the lives of people in the State by creating more job opportunities and improved availability of electricity across the State once the project is completed.”
“With the support of the Governor, we can speed up the process of actualizing the Hydro Power project in Mambila. The project has the capacity to change the fortune of Taraba State and our people count on us.”
The Governor on his part pledged the readiness of his administration to support and ensure that the nation’s biggest hydropower project is successful, said President Muhammadu Buhari has handed over delivering of the Mambila Project to indigenes of the state.
“Am here to discuss with my brother on how to ensure that Mambilla project receives the needed attention. President Buhari has heeded to our plea on this project which has been moribund in the last 20 years by putting one of us to oversee the project, we must do everything to support and encourage him achieve his goals.
“The work is now between me and him, it is time for us to close ranks and work for the success of the gigantic project nature has placed in Taraba State.”
The governor was accompanied by Senator Representing Taraba North at the National Assembly, Senator Shuaibu Isa.
