Presidential delegation, state governors, Senate President, business moguls and other dignitaries on Wednesday stormed Kano state for the funeral of Sani Dangote, younger brother of Aliko Dangote.
At exactly 10:05 am, Chief Imam of Kofar Kudu mosque, Sheikh Sani Muhammad led the funeral prayer of late Dangote, who was the vice president of Dangote Group at the Kano Emir’s palace.
A renown business tycoon and immediate brother to Aliko Dangote, the President Dangote group, late Sani died after losing a battle with cancer in Miami hospital United State on Monday.
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, his deputy Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, Alh Aliko Dangote, Kano politicians and business community attended the funeral service.
Some of the dignitaries who graced the occasion were presidential delegation, which include SA to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, minister of aviation Hadi Sirika, among others.
Others were Borno state governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, former Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima and his counterpart of Nassarawa state, senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, other serving and former members of national assembly were also present at the funeral service.
From the business community, Abdussamad Isyaku Rabiu, President BUA conglomerate, the publisher of Thisday newspaper, Nduka Ogbobuna, among others also attended.
“We received the information about the passing away of this gentleman Alhaji Sani Dangote with shock. Kano state, our dear country Nigeria and the business community have lost an illustrious son.
“But to all of us particularly those from Kano state. We lost a rare gem in the business community.
“It is therefore on behalf if the government and good people of Kano state that I am sending our heartfelt condolence to the immediate families of Alhaji Sani Dangote and to his brother Alhaji Aliko Dangote over his death” Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said after the deceased was buried.
The body was laid to rest at exactly 11am at the Dantata family grave yard situated at Koki in Kano municipal local government area, where shiekh Tijjani Bala Kalarawi lead the prayer for the deceased.
