The principal of Government Secondary School, Yangoji, in Kwali area councilof the federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mrs. Habsatu Suleiman, has appealed to the FCT Administration to provide a functional borehole as well as reconnect the school to the national grid, in order to boost the morale of students.
She also called on the FCT Education Board, co-operate bodies as well as private individuals to provide the needed text books and other educational materials for the upgrading of the school library.
Suleiman, who made the appeal while presenting her speech during the 8th annual inter-house competition at the school premises on Monday, further requested for more sporting equipment and trophies in the school.
She expressed joy that the students had excelled tremendously at various competitions organized within and outside the FCT, as according to her, the school has potentials to represent the country at the international competitions in the nearby future.
The principal commended the staff for the efforts towards the successes of the inter-house competition.
Responding, the guest of honour at the occasion, Dr. Moroof Akinwande, who is the chairman in charge of the FCT Education Board, described sports as an integral part of physical Education that helps in no small measure at promoting the mental, physical, social and moral development of man in all ramifications.
According to him, sports is the only avenue through which the spirit of sportsmanship is highly cultivated to bring about peace, love and understanding in our land.
Akinwande who was represented by the assistant director, Mr. Momoh A. Omeiza at the Board lauded the authorities of the school for organizing a befitting inter-house competition for the students to fish out hidden talents.
At the end of the competition, Blue house emerged 1st position; Green house took the 2nd position while the 3rd position went to Red house.
