An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court yesterday ordered two accused persons, Efe Onororo, 22, and Lekan Adeleke, 24, in prison custody over alleged armed robbery.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP. Sunday Onwuchekwa, told the court that the accused committed the offence on January 28, at Omisanjana area of Ado-Ekiti.
He said the accused on the said date, while armed with gun and knife, robbed one Hon. Samuel Ajibola and Mrs Yemi Oladejo of their valuables.
He said the offence contravened Section 403(2)a of the Criminal Code, cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.
Onwuchekwa opposed a bail plea by counsel to the accused, Mr Isreal Akpoana, saying that the offence involved the use of arms and ammunition.
The pleas of the accused were not taken.
Akpoana had prayed the court to grant his clients bail, saying they were charged under Section 403 which, he claimed, is a bailable offence.
Chief Magistrate Idowu Ayenimo ordered that the accused be remanded in prison, and adjourned the case to March 7, for mention. (NAN)
