A 29-year old salesman, Nwanodie Victor, has appeared in a Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ court, Abuja, for allegedly misappropriating the sum of N558, 000 belonging to his boss.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Mohammed Ahmed, told the court that the matter was reported by the boss, Mr. Chieloka Ndeanefo, at the Maitama Police station on February 13.
Ahmed said that the money was the proceeds from the sale of six phones in the complainant shop at EMAB Plaza in Wuse 2, Abuja.
He said that Ndeanefo employed Victor as a salesman and entrusted with a shop, stocked fully with assorted phones.
The prosecutor said Ndeanefo instructed the accused to remit daily sales to the cashier, but instead of complying with the directive, he converted the money to his personal use.
Ahmed said the accused committed a breach of trust that is contrary to Section 314 of the Penal code.
The accused, however, denied the allegation.
Senior Magistrate, Tony Ubani, however granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He ordered that the surety must have verifiable address and a good means of livelihood, and adjourned the matter to March 20 for hearing proper. (NAN)
