Security forces in Kaduna state have arrested five suspected terrorists at Kwanan Dangora, a border town between Kano and Kaduna states while they were planning to attack the area.
A top security source craved anonymity spoke Peoples Daily said: “Some of the weapons we recovered from the suspects includes seven primed Improvised Explosives Devices, one General Purpose Machine Gun , three AK 47 Riffles, five fully charged magazines, 66 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunitions and a Jerry Can of petrol, among other things,”.
The source further explained that: “During the early hours of Wednesday, 19th February, 2014, the assigned members were on their way to actualize the planned attacks but were arrested by the joint
security forces,” he said.
Leader of the group was said to have been recruited into the gang 14 months ago.
He said they met in a commercial vehicle in Bauchi and that they were on a revenge operation against Soldiers in Bauchi who killed their friends five years ago.
It was further learnt that they were given a car and N17,000 at Karfi near Kano to attack the Kwanan Dangora police station on Tuesday and to hide all weapons that will have been stolen from the police station at Kunkumi a boarder village in Kaduna State.
The top security source gave names of the arrested alleged terrorists as 28-year-old, Bashir Ali, Abdullahi Adam 21 , Adamu Abdullahi ,29, Abubakar Abdullahi 32 and Mohammed Umar, 32.
