The immediate past President – General (PG), Abuja chapter of Imo Community Association (ICA), Chief Ike Obasi who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer, Ignobis Hotels Ltd, Abuja said the death of the senator representing Imo North Senatorial District of Imo state at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Chief Ben Uwajumogu was a great loss to his home town of Ihite Uboma, his senatorial zone, Imo state and Nigeria in general.
Uwajumagu was recently reported dead in Abuja, the nation’s capital.
Chief Obasi addressed journalists in his office in Abuja recently.
Speaking while controlling tears, he said until his death, Senator Uwajumogu who was a Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly and later a senator representing his senatorial district under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) performed wonderfully well.
According to him, the late senator contributed immensely towards development of his people.
Calling on today’s politicians to emulate the legacy left behind by Uwajumogu, Chief Ike Obasi urged the immediate family of the diseased, the imo North Senatorial Zone, Imo State and Nigeria in general to bear the loss and live the rest to the Almighty God who he said knew the best.
Obasi said until his death, he was not only a good friend of the late senator, but also from the same Ihite Uboma, Imo State with him, even as he added that he was yet to be able to bear the loss of the young politician.
He said they all were hopeful of the senator becoming a senator leader in the state, due to the ability seen in him.
The former PG however, called on the entire people of Okigwe and the senatorial zone to take the death as the will and wish of God, adding that Uwajumogu has proven to be a man of the people.
Speaking on the lessons to be learnt from the death of the senator, Chief Ike Obasi said the death of the senator, a young politician who died when he was needed most, showed that death doesn’t have respect for age.
He also advised all to go about all their deeds with the fear of God, as did by the late senator.
