The Police in Lagos yesterday arraigned a septuagenarian, RasaqAdebisi, who allegedly failed to produce a suspect for whom he stood as surety.
Adebisi, 78, was charged with attempt to pervert the cause of justice.
He is standing trial before an Itire Magistrates’ Court.
The Prosecutor, Insp Ezekiel Ayorinde, said Adebisi failed on several occasions to produce Ismaila Esugbayi at the Area D Police Command Headquarters, where he stood as a surety for him.
Ayorinde said Esugbayi was being investigated by the Police over alleged assault.
The prosecutor said Adebisi flouted the provisions of Section 97 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Magistrate, Mrs Abegunde Davis, granted Adebisi bail in the sum ofN20,000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case till April 16, 2014 for mention.(NAN)
