From Lawal Sa’idu Funtua, Katsina
Governor Ibrahim Shehu Shema of Katsina state has lambasted members of the opposition party for failing to recognize development projects executed by his administration.
Shemaat, the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected PDP state executives, pointed out that the PDP led-administration has executed numerous projects which have improved the living standard of people since the country returned to democracy.
The governor said that Katsina people attested to his administration’s free education policy, construction of healthcare facilities, roads, and provision of subsidy on fertilizer, among others.
He, therefore, described comments from the opposition in the state as misleading, stressing that “If the opposition doesn’t know these, they should ask people of Katsina state, who will attest to that,’’ he said.
Shema also urged the new party executives to work hard in mobilizing people to join the party and reconcile with aggrieved party members.
The governor urged them not be intimidated by any politician or political party, because according to him “ we believed victory comes from God”.
In his remarks, the PDP zonal secretary, Alhaji Bishir Tanimu, urged the new party leaders to be honest and operate an open door policy because every member has roles to play in moving the party forward.
Also speaking, the new PDP Chairman, Alhaji Rabiu Gambo assured that they would do their best to ensure success of the party.
Gambo also urged people of Katsina state to continue to support the present administration’s policies and programmes, which he said, were aimed at developing the state. A total of 276 state, zonal and local government executives were sworn at the occasion.
