The duration of the ongoing National Conference has been extended by a period of six weeks.
The conference will now end on July 31, as opposed to the original end date of June 19.
The extension was indicated in the conference’s work plan which was released to delegates yesterday.
Many delegates had previously expressed their concerns over the lack of time provided to them in order to tackle the pressing national issues they have been tasked with tackling.
Each delegate will now approximately receive an extra N4.5 million if they are to be paid for the extended period.
Delegates to the National Conference had recently called on the conference secretariat to increase time allotted to the various committees considering their work plan.
It will be recalled that Secretariat of the conference gave two weeks to the various committees constituted to handle specific items of the conference.
They made the call at plenary, saying that there were enormous issues to be discussed.
