The Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF) has stated that the wealth of experience of the Anambra State Governor elect, Prof Charles Soludo, as a consummate economist, will be of immense benefits to the people of the state and the country.
According to the Chairman of the forum and Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, with Soludo set to join the SGF, the efforts of the governors towards economic integration and enhanced socio-economic relationship in the region will be boosted in many ways.
Akeredolu stated this in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information, Donald Ojogo, where he congratulated the Anambra Prof Soludo over his victory at last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Akeredolu also commended the people of Anambra State for trooping out and their resolve to exercise their franchise in spite of the security challenges in the state.
The governor, however, urged the ex-governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to brace up for the herculean job ahead as he emphasised that the security and economic challenges in the Southern part of the country and the nation at large require joint efforts and unalloyed commitment.
“No doubt, we will be happy to explore the experience of the Governor-elect, as it relates to the economy and also help in our efforts to keep the people of the Southern Nigeria safe.
“Prof Soludo’s experience as a consummate economist will be of great asset to the good people of Anambra, Southern Governors’ Forum and indeed the entire country.
“On behalf of my colleagues in the SGF, I congratulate Prof. Soludo and wish him the best as he prepares for the Herculean task ahead.”
