The House of Representatives finance committee has said that it has suspended the consideration of the 2014 budget revenue framework, to allow for the hearing of the responses to the 50 questions by the finance minister.
A statement by the Clerk, Farouk Dawaki, said the suspension has affected the planned appearance of finance ministrer, Director-General, budget office, Office of the Accountant General, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Nigeria Customs Service, among others.
Various revenue generating agencies and independent revenue generating agencies, have been appearing before the committee with a view to presenting updates on the status of revenue generation, collections and remittances between the 2011 and 2013.
“The suspension is informed by the Committee’s decision to first conclude work on the State of the Economy investigative hearing scheduled to ascertain the true state of our economy and robustly engage the Minister of Finance and the Co-ordinating Minister of the Economy on her responses to our 50 questions,” it stated.
The public hearing on the state of the economy, which commences on Monday next week, would be declared open by the speaker, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, as the continuation of the 2014 budget revenue framework resumes after the hearing.
