A suspected burglar has been reportedly burnt to death by an irate mob at the Cinema Site Junction, Okwumagba Avenue, Warri in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
It was gathered that the burnt suspect identified as Julius Frank lived in the area and belonged to a gang alleged to had burgled scores of stores and shops in the area at odd hours.
Determined to catch the alleged burglars, concerned residents, particularly victims of their recent burglaries, had decided to lay ambush on them from the midnight of Friday, August 13 to the early hours of Saturday, August 14, 2021.
The determination of the concerned residents paid off when they saw the burglars from a distance burgling a store and had immediately given them a hot chase.
While the other members of the gang were said to have escaped, the burnt suspect was reportedly caught, unmasked and immediately set ablaze when it was discovered that he lived in the area.
But the Delta State Police Command Public Relations Officer DSP Edafe Bright who confirmed the incident said Investigation was ongoing with a view to ensuring that those who took laws into their hands are brought to arrest.
