National chairman of All Progressive Congress (APC), Abdulahi Adamu, yesterday told Governors of the party that as key stakeholders, they are under bound to give President Muhammadu Buhari soft landing as he begins his trip out of the presidential villa, adding that winning the 2023 presidential election and the Ekiti guber poll are the first step towards achieving it.
Adamu said this when he inaugurated the sixty one members of Ekiti governorship campaign council of the party in the secretariat, where he also cautioned them against losing the Election, as according to him, APC is never on the losing side.
According to him, “President Muhammadu Buhari is at the beginning of his trip out of the Presidential Villa. He made no secret of it. He is a man of honour, he seeks no extension. He said it that he has been elected for a second time. He is under oath as President to protect and preserve the Nigerian constitution.
“The Nigerian constitution has given him two terms of four years each, he has started his second term and at the end of it, he does not intend to and does not ask for anybody to ask for a third term or any elongation of tenure.
“So we are on a bond, like him, to see that he has soft landing and that is to deliver this party to victory and Ekiti State is the first test.
“So, he takes this election very seriously, we would try to do as much as possible. We will be guided by the rules of engagement for elections, we will observe every rule, every guideline and we do hope that those who will be responsible for overseeing the compliance will be fair arbiters, will be fair referees, will be fair umpires.
“It is our hope and prayers that God almighty will be with us, will guide us, will ensure that victory is ours.”
Responding on behalf of the APC Governors, Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Abubakar Bagudu, who is the chairman of the APC campaign council for Ekiti, said the assignment should be acknowledged by all party members because APC is only important when it is in power.
He also said the Committee is even more competent now, given that in the last four years, Governor Kayode Fayemi has done a lot to ensure that Ekiti has remained a progressive state.
“As we have been given this opportunity, all of us will sacrifice because we are having other primaries, other national and the timetable is short, but I can assure you that we will do our very best to reciprocate the confidence that our party has placed on us.
“I pray that as we achieve success in Ekiti, it will blossom in a bigger success in the election in Osun and 2023”, he said.
In his remarks, the National Organising Secretary of APC, Suleiman Argungu said the party has commenced the last-mile journey to retain the Government of Ekiti State under the direction, influence, and purposeful leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He recalled that the Party had conducted a rancor-free Governorship Primary Election where Biodun Oyebanji emerged as the Ekiti State gubernatorial candidate without any of the aspirants sustaining any sorts of action against his triumph at the governorship election petitions tribunal nor at any court of law.
On this note, he assured members across the country that APC shall triumph in Ekiti State for the continued advancement of the good people of the State and the progress of our great Country.
