From Ahmed Idris, Birnin Kebbi
A housewife, Malama Fatima, who delivered triplets last Wednesday, all of them males, has appealed to the general public to help in settling outstanding medical bills of N30, 000 that she incurred at Federal Medical Centre, Birnin-Kebbi, in Kebbi state where she had the babies.
She also called on Kebbi state government, individuals and NGOs to assist her with donations to enable her cater for the children.
Fatima and her husband, Malam Sule Ahmadu, who spoke with newsmen at the Federal Medical Center Birnin Kebbi, said, given the hash economic situation in the country, they would need the goodwill of the people to take care of the children, who were delivered prematurely.
“The babies were delivered after 7 months of pregnancy and the mother needs good nutrition to be able to feed them”, stated some nurses at the health centre.
Father of the children, Saleh, said he is a farmer in Tungar Soja, Suru local government area of Kebbi state, and also poor. So, it has not been easy buying baby milk and other basic needs of the children, adding that he is now at the mercy of God, who gave him the children.
The farmer thanked staff of the hospital for their assistance, as well as the Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria, and the Social Welfare department of the hospital but lamented that they still need to pay outstanding N30, 000 medical bills incurred during the delivery.
