Chairman, National Electoral Commission (NEC), Usman A. Abbas, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the recently conducted state congress in Yobe state as the model for the country.
Abbas made the disclosure yesterday while inaugurating the 35 man executive council of the party at the WAWA Hall of the Government House, Damaturu.
The congresses were held rancour free from the ward through the local governments to the state levels in the state.
The APC NEC Chairman expressed the wish that the success recorded in the exercise in Yobe be replicated in other states of the federation.
“In fact I will recommend that they come out and see what happened here in Yobe,” Abbas said.
He attributed the success to the good qualities exhibited by the state governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam which include political inclusiveness, inclusive democracy and participatory democracy where everybody is involved with no one left outside, or seen as contributing nothing.
In his vote of thanks address, the newly elected chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, also attributed the success of the election by consensus to the efforts of the governor in uniting party members under one umbrella and his total commitment towards providing the dividends of democracy to the people.
He therefore called on all the elected officials to show total loyalty to the party at both state and national levels and to the governor in order to enable him do more to improve the living standard of the people of the state.
Governor Gaidam in his address disclosed with joy that Yobe was the first to have inaugurated new and duly elected state officials of the APC in the federation.
