In the spirit of Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, Philip Aduda, has distributed over 2,800 bags of rice to residents of the territory.
Peoples Daily reports that supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), village heads, graded chiefs, opinion leaders and people with special needs were among the beneficiaries.
Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Senator said the gesture was one of the ways of giving back to his people, especially during festive seasons.
Aduda, who spoke through his Chief of Staff, Aodu Dabara, said the food items will assist the residents during the festive period.
He noted that necessary mechanism has been put in place to ensure that the items get to the targeted beneficiaries, while calling on those who might not be getting from the gesture to be patient and wait for their time.
He added that apart from the food donation, the Senator has been providing boreholes, electricity and distribution of treated mosquito nets to the residents in all the six area councils,
Meanwhile, in his Christmas message to the residents, the Senator urged them to celebrate the period in a moderate manner and avoid acts that could jeopardise the existing peace in the territory.
