Zamfara state government has announced that over N30m has been earmarked in its 2014 budget, to complement community management of acute malnutrition [CMAM], facilitated by the developmental partners in the state, ‘Save the Children’, and UNICEF.
This was made known by the Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Tijjani Yahaya Kaura, when officials of Maternal New born and Child Health [MNCH] advocacy coalition paid him an advocacy visit in his office.
The Secretary informed that, the present administration of Governor Abdulaziz Yari is committed to ensure that funds allocated for nutrition activities were accessed and judiciously used within the fiscal year.
‘I don’t know why in 2013 budget, no single naira was accessed from the N20million budgeted for nutrition? But, I want to assure you that I would do every possible to see if not 100%, by God grace 80% of the funds allocated in the year 2014 will be accessed.
