The Science Association of Nigeria (SAN) will honour Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Prof. Kabiru Bala, Executive Vice-Chairman of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta; and Director- General, Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), Prof. Hussaini Doko Ibrahim, with Fellowship awards for their tremendous contributions to science and science-related disciplines in their various endeavours.
This was made known in a statement made available by the Public Affairs Directorate, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria yesterday.
The statement stated that other to be awarded with the fellowship included the Director-General, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Engr. Aliyu Aziz Abubakar; Director, Federal Roads Development Project, Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. Ishaq O. Mohammed; Vice-Chancellor, Nok University, Prof. Ishaya Haruna Nock; Prof. Abiodun Ayodele, Department of Botany, University of Ibadan; and Dr. Hassan Adeyemi of Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency.
The list also included Prof. Ibrahim Oladosu, Department of Chemistry, University of Ibadan; Prof. F.O. Nwosu, Department of Chemistry, University of Ilorin; and Dr. Adeyemi Dada, Department of Crop Protection and Environmental Biology, University of Ibadan.
Also, the Association will honour the Founder/Chairman, AZMAN Group of Companies, Alhaji Abdulmunaf Yunusa Sarina, for his contribution to the economic development of Nigeria, and Co-Director, Centre for Girls Education, Hajiya Habiba Mohammed for her contributions to girl child education, with honorary award.
The 55th Annual (Hybrid) Conference of the Science Association of Nigeria will hold on the Central Bank of Nigeria Centre for Economic and Finance, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria from today 3rd July to Thursday 6th July, 2023.
Christened, “The Role of Science and Technology in the Enhancement of Global Security and Socio-Economic Development”, the Conference is being organised in collaboration with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
According to the Chairperson of SAN’s Local Organising Committee, Prof. Maryam Aminu-Mukhtar, the Association comprises of a diverse group of scientists with the vision of promoting global best practices in science that address societal needs of national relevance.
The conference, which will be targeted towards ensuring the comprehensive use of research and results for securing the global environment, will also provide a forum for exchanging new research findings and ideas among professionals across the nation and beyond.
